Why would it be that my DSL speed is very high and up to speed, but servers that I used to ping ~60 are now pinging ~200. I'm the only one using my connection as well.
I've reset the thing many times, and have connected directly throught the DSL modem. I havent done any traceroute tests thought. I'll check that the next time it craps out. It's just strange that the thing will still keep a full speed, but crap out the ping even when connecting to the same server.

let's hope it's just a route change, in which case you may ping well to a different set of servers.
Get yourself a tracerouter - i've enjoyed pingplotter for a few years.
i believe the trace measures the return time from you to each successive hop, so a traceroute will show successively increasing ping times as you look through successive nodes.

Download speed and ping/latency are almost completely unrelated, btw.
Your ISP probably made changes on their network that caused you to take more hops to get to your favorite server(s) than before.
If it's really bad and it continues, sometimes you can talk to your ISP and get to Level 3 support or so, and they can change your routing to give you better latency. It's not quite as easy to get someone to do that these days as it used to be though.
