An interesting find on google satelite maps

Post by Turbine »

I have been playing and playing with the satelite maps on Google.
I have used the Google Earth but I dont have one due to a non-brodband
internet connection.

I have seen many interesting things, including updated imagery of
places I have seen before. And in some cases unupdated (wtf?).

One of the so far coolest images I have encoundered is an airplane
that is 80 meeters from tuchdown, right over a road. Interesting.

Go on and see it: http://maps.google.ca/maps?ll=43.670867 ... &t=k&hl=en

What I am trying to find is a picture, where the airplane is really high in the sky and is blocking a sizable chunk of the ground.
That would be a real fun find!

That's more like 600m from touchdown.

Well yeah I would say around 1000ft, now that I see the scale at the botom.

But when you are on the ground it seems closer.

you'd need the airplane to be flying at an altitude similar to the satellite in order for that to happen.

in other words, you're not gonna find any pics like that

What I mean is for it to block out a house or three. And a noticable shadow some way off.

What really bothers me about google maps is that they whithened out the airport, and they are actualy using 3 year old satelite pictures. A month ago they had 1 year old satelite pictures.

What is up with that?
