I admit that I were out on DC++ yesterday looking for a special live-version of a song. My F: was on share, and whitout thinking of it I installed Quake 4 on that drive, and when I started DC++ it automatically loaded up the new files, which included the q4-folder. And without further toughts on that I started looking for the track and walked away from the computer just a few minutes. When I came back some Italian guy had downloaded my q4cdkey-file, in despaire I closed my DC++ window and therefore all logs on people who had downloaded from me was gone, and now I'm out of reach, talking to the guy who downloaded it. So no I'm in such agony of the thoughts that one day when I'll going to play MP a message with "CD-KEY ALLREADY IN USE" is going to show, then... I've bought the game for nothing, I guess that I have to blame myself for piracy. >_<
Yeah, pretty much, hope that he only downloaded it to try out the sp and then to buy himself an own copy of the game, instead of spreading it out through the net.
I doubt they would have any sympathy for you, but you could always try to contact Raven/Activision, and tell them what happened, and ask them to ban your CD key and give you a new one.
I remember worse....once someone came to q3w to advertise selling his copy of Q3......thing was he pasted pictures of the CD Case, with the cdkey on the front (via ebay iirc)
Yeah, I though about mailing ID but don't think they have sympathy for a "piracy-guy", but maybe I'll give it a shot, I mean, the worst thing that could happen is that they just laugh at me. ^^
Have just arrived from school, and I could connect to multiplayer games now, so it haven't crashed with "the other guy" yet.
