5.10a gave me a 10-15 fps boost on a 9800 Pro.

7 FPS increase on a timedemo with an x850 pro 256mb on the 5.10a's. Looks like ATI is onto something.

BDW...Thanks for all your help, it was a frustrating time lol. I went from 37fps on that timedemo to 47 fps on high at 1024x768 with everything turned on but aa and decals. Not bad... I'm gonna keep on trying different configurations untill I get 50 fps.

BTW... the timedemo is here: http://media.ggl.com/files/ggl-timedemo.zip

I too got a huge boost on these drivers on my 9800 Pro. Made multiplayer run good enough to keep playing, unlike before. :)

"On Friday we contacted ATI and were able to determine that the file originally uploaded to the site, hotfix_xp-2k_dd_ccc_027483.exe, wasn’t the driver with the OpenGL performance enhancements. Fortunately ATI was able to quickly correct the problem, the file that you want is hotfix_xp-2k_dd_ccc_027483a.exe."

Download it again.

Performance is actually reduced when using an X800 XL. :dork:

From the looks of it you have to have one of the very newest cards to take advantage of the new prediction algorithms in the driver, as noted the x800 doesn't benefit from the driver and it is only logical that a 9800 pro would see no benefit as well. Sux cause I have a 9800pro.

Also, when I run that ggl timedemo it says invalid token or something. I can only timedemo regular demos, not netdemos. How are you guys doing the timedemo with that demo file?

I dont recall the exact error I was getting, but it wouldn't allow me to play that demo until I renamed it, removing the hyphen. Mine is currently just timedemo.netdemo. playNetTimeDemo timedemo works for me

The hotfix works great on my x850 pro... you will see improvement ranging from 9800 pro series all the wayto the x800/x850 series.

Try it out on your x800... you will see improvement.

Wrong.
Two of us so far have had very nice performance improvements with 9800 Pros. I honestly think I get about 10+ FPS higher.

hmm, downloaded the hotfix drivers, took out the ccc, added 5.10 cp and wdm drivers to the package.

i went from 53fps@1280x1024 2xAA high quality. AA+AF set to app pref. in cp, high quality. to 60fps in the ggl timedemo.

thats at first glance who knows if everything is working right. i'll take a deeper look later.

x800xt pe, a64@2.4, 1.5gigs.

edit: it's kind of funny the two places i get slowdowns in the timedemo. nothing is happening actionwise and no other models are in view at the time. wierd.

Sounds like you got a boost. Your CPU really helps you out... my 2.8ghz p4 is really holding my x850 Pro back. :( But after this hotfix I get decent FPS.
