Sony, what's the deal?

Post by Jackal »

How does the corporate structure of Sony work? I understand that there is a Sony and a Sony of America but beyond there things get a bit hazy. Look at all the various game companies. Do they operate independently or are they still part of the over-arching structure of "Sony" as a whole. I think Sony is owned by Bertelsman as well but I'm not sure about that. Anybody know anything about corporate structure when it comes to companies as big as Sony?

I believe it's only Sony Music that's owned by Bertelsmann/BMG.

SOmebody once mentioned to me that SOE and SCE aren't under the Sony umbrella though. Is this true?
