The 6600 (any of them) will run any game out now comfortably, and will run Q4 fine as well.

Not really. Not maxed out at least. We tried an Asus 6600GT at on my friends computer (Pentium D 3.0ghz, 2gig ram) and it didn't run NFS:U2 well on max settings. I was very disappointed. Him too. He then exchanged the 6600GT for a 7800GTX.

OK, granted. But the 6600 will run any of them at medium settings (1280 no AA OR AF) fine.

I thought the whole fucking point of a fucking video card is AA/AF these days.

Please don't get a 6600 when the 6800 is so cheap.

:olo: @ ToxicBug
Not everyone can afford $400 video cards. And even some who can don't care enough to pay that much.

And Gramps, the 6600GT can often beat the 6800NU. Go look.

Never use them TBH :icon32:

I like visuals, but the payoff weighed against the benefit for both AA and AF isn't worth it, IMO.

Gramps, you have truckloads of nearly brand new computer hardware that you've switched out for even newer stuff. Send hate some of that shit.

Sorry...

Most of my old stuff goes into my son's PC or is given to friends.

If I've got something of significant value, I'll sell it to a friend for almost nothing. Like my old 21" CRT. I sold it to a friend in need for $50.00. :icon26:

The IP of your server would be a nice addition.

Yeah, we're doing different front pages for TcL and VL. The BF2 server will be one of the thing on TcL's front page.

according to these benchmarks it seems that the 6600 gt is only slightly slower than the 6800gt ,

it only gets dramaticaly slower than the 6800gt on the higher resolutions, and if you're like me that wouldn't matter much, not for the price difference anyway
