Its a reason you should play games again.
Fucking hell is this amazing. Im' not spooked easily these days but christ, I nearly shit myself with these headphones on.. Its really, really GOOD.
I can see why that guy thought Quake 4 sucked. After playing this, you dont want to go back to run/shoot/repeat....

I can't get into AOE.
I've tried, but I hate RTSs where there are hard limitations on how much stuff you can churn out.
I guess it boils down to tactics, but I prefer the simpler approach of being the most efficient unit producer then stomping.

You're not fond of the pop limit, Foo?

I guess it's the biggest frustration, yeah. I'd been playing a lot of C&C Zero Hour before I gave the AOE3 Demo a whirl, then I tried the original AOE as well... after being able to huck 500 or so quad cannons into an opponents base all at once, being able to launch a few dozen knights max across the field feels like a step back.Massive Quasars wrote:You're not fond of the pop limit, Foo?
The game is probably excellent.. I just can't get over that one limitation, because I *hate* spending time on things that feel like they're limited in any way. I'm a real technological advancement junkie, I guess.

Nothing wrong with that, back in the day the pop limit used to frustrate me as well. I was a noob, and never became good at any AOE game. I know the reason for the pop limit was explained to me at one point, but I can't remember what it was.Foo wrote:I'm a real technological advancement junkie, I guess.
Yeah I've been playing since aoe1. In aoe3, the pop limit makes more sense because it's more of a balance thing. It's even more limited than past games, you can't build a million of some things, like towers. Cards will let you build more, and expand your cap. I never hit my pop limit. Theres usually constant fighting going down as soon as I can make a military.
