You know

Post by [FTF]Pyro »

When Oasis were around back in the the early to mid 90's (their still around but lets face it, it AINT Oasis anymore), I used to hate the image and everything about them, I was more into prodigy and nirvana at the time. Going back and listening to a lot of their stuff though and I have to say that probably a good 60% of their stuff is really excellent and thats a lot for any band.

I really wish that at some point when I was a teenager that I had got into them more. I think it would have been a fun period if you were into that kind of stuff instead of wasting my younger years listening to Kurt Cobain moan about shit..... You know?

No way. Oasis has a couple of good songs from their past, but they never did anything close to overall quality level of Nirvana's Nevermind.
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost

Oasis reminded me too much of the psychedelic furs, whom probably pioneered that sound.

They're a great band, imo. it's just too bad their image is easy for people to pick on and put down. their music (earlier stuff) is timeless unlike alot of trash on the airwaves.

Morning Glory is a great album, but i think The Masterplan is even better.

If nothing else, Oasis have been icons for a lot longer than most of the other crap that was around at that time. Gotta respect the longevity (and yeh i ain't old so it does seem like they've been around for a while to me).

hm.. oasis always remind me of the Bluetones (listened to em at around the same time. They were always underrated - love Adam Devlins guitar work.

Point taken, but given the choice between spending more of my time as a teenager listening to Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and other similar bands i think was much better than listening to bands such as Oasis and blur. Not that I didn't like the latter, I just think the Prodigy etc are better bands who produce music i like more :)

Through a lot of my high school days I was listening to Nevermind, Pearl Jam's Ten, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Faith No More's Epic and Angel Dust, No Rain by Blind Melon, Bad Habit (and others) by Offspring, etc.

There was some great music to come out of that scene those days, and there's no way in hell I'd trade it for Oasis.
Just because the bands sounded that way doesn't mean you had to be depressed to listen to it - I still play a lot of the stuff today.

Yup.... I remember a lot of that too. No Rain is probably one of my all time favourite songs.

By the way Phanny, I aint complaining about listening to prodigy or the cehms or ANY of that sort of stuff. They are still the mainstay of my musical taste just now and I findmyself comparing recent bands to stuff off of Prods Jilted album etc etc etc.

I dunno, I guess I just wish that instead of wasting time,14 - 18 years old, listening to shit like "Rape Me" and incoherent nosense like "Sliver" (dont get me wrong, I still like Nirvana) thinking I was the shit and ridiculing Oasis because they were what was deemed "The Cool" band of the time. I wish I could go back and actually appreciate them for what they were then and there instead of listening to the tracks and regretting what I did not do at the time......

I really liked Pearl Jam though and still really love most of their stuff. But it seems to be that instead of listening to bands that say "Fuck it, lets have a good time, Rock and Roll and all that crap"..... I seemed to be listening to bands that were all "life sucks"...... I dunno maybe just teenagerism.......

oasis blows. if you wanted happier music from the 90's there was a lot of it that wasn't and isn't completely gay. besides, sliver isn't incoherent. perhaps you were thinking of aneurysm?

in the 90ies I didn't care so much about them, also because the dumb media hype and ghey rivalry with that moron robbie williams. but in the last years I got some oasis albums and I think they rock, no matter if liam sometimes still looses his teeth in the fights
