What's a good way to benchmark video card drivers?

I generally run some game's timedemo before and after installing the drivers.

i use to test my videocard with
timedemo 1 from quake III,
but its to hard now to really know if i get more fps, with the specs i have now.....
so i use ;
timedemo demo1 usecache
from Doom III
and it give me a good realistic benchmark , when i test new driver or just different settings...
