They're going to offer TV shows via the iTunes store, and will also offer music videos. I dig being able to get the TV shows. Lets hope they're encoded in good quality.
The new iPod holds up to 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos or over 150 hours of video and is available in a 30GB model for $299 and a 60GB model for $399, with both models available in stunning white or black designs.
“The new iPod is the best music player ever—it's 30 percent thinner and has 50 percent more storage than its predecessor—yet it sells for the same price and plays stunning video on its 2.5-inch color screen,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Because millions of people around the world will buy this new iPod to play music, it will quickly become the most popular portable video player in history.”
The new iPod plays music, audiobooks, audio Podcasts, video Podcasts, home movies, music videos and popular television shows like “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives.” The unrivaled combination of iPod and iTunes® 6 now provides customers with a seamless experience for buying, managing and playing video as well as audio content, including over 2,000 music videos, six short films from the Academy-Award winning Pixar Animation Studios, and five television shows from ABC and Disney Channel, including the immensely popular “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives.”

i wonder what kind of battery specs they have for these new vid players.
*edit*
The 30GB model features up to 14 hours of battery life for music playback and the 60GB model features up to 20 hours of battery life for music playback.*
well from what i can tell anything from now on, all portable vid is mpg4.
not because of apple .
i gonna get sommy old somehow i guess
also H.264
I dont know if you are familar with this formate, but its a very high quality and good compression format. I routinly watch shows online that are in H.264 and they are about the same size as divx and the same quality and retain better quality when you blow them up, you dont get that square tile look.

i do the same (diggnation mostly) and it's a slick codec for sure.

yerp. only jumping to 6 instead of 5.x because of video, but yer yer. i'm digging the sound of a 30gb...what's this, 5G(?) in black.
6G
iTunes 5 fucked something up with my disc burning; doesn't like making CDs out of .sd2 and .wav files. Fortunately I've got the rather nifty waveburner (comes with logic), but still a nuisance. I have suspicions....
i know im fucked, im going to have to drop back down the 10k mark again.. I been waiting for this for so long, im going to give it a few weeks to see if poeple have problems, then im buying one.
Or maybe ill just buy one cause i cant stand the excitment. lol

you guys are forgetting though that this is an added feature along with 10 more Gigs of space for the same price as last year's non-video 20GB iPod. pretty impressive if you ask me.
i dont know much at all about ipods but does anyone think that there are too many versions of ipods out there from a marketing standpoint? i have no idea...just wondering what others think.
