Final Fantasy VII dudes

Post by o'dium »

I just, at long last, managed to get a hold of it for PC. It works fine and all, but I have one major problem... the resolution will only go as high as 640x480. I dunno why they did this, most ports did though :(

I can deal with how low detail it all is, i find it nice tbh, i can deal with even the resolution being so low at 640, but is there a way to change it by any chance? Not using the config exe file? Like in the old C&C games you can open up your config and run it at any res, even crazy high ones...?

Tried hardware, the first time i got it working fine, the second time when i installed a patch (hoping it would add extra settings) it chopped the background up into tiny tiles, lol.

As for the psx vs PC thing, i have it on PSX, but i would rather play it on PC this time. Its just easier for me while the missus watches *insert random shite on tv here*

Then you must waste the same amount of time noticing that i do this, and be just as much a geek?

FFS man, get a life. Its an internet forum, where you "talk". seeing as i'm in the house an hour after wwaking up, and the missus is out, i think i'm entitled to sit down and post some random shit for a few mins before i move onto my next "chosen" hobby.

If im to much of a geek to you, thats perfectly fine. its your choice to say it. But i would appreciate it if you wouldn't call "me" a geek for posting on an internet forum, which you yourself read just as much as i do.

Good day sir.

you're stretching thin to even begin to believe you and i are in any way alike. it's also not difficult to notice your absolute ejaculatory-esque ways when it comes to games. i don't need to post 22 THOUSAND more times just to see that..or read the boards as much as you. it'd probably take me cumulatively 10 more years just to catch up to you, come on. you also help my views even more by being so defensive.

just conversation odium..don't have an aneurism over words

Get the Final Fantasy VII XP Patch, you need it anyways if you are running the game on windows XP, or the game will freeze when you do the chocobo race (you have to do it once I think). The patch also adds direct3d support, I *think*

or you could pop the psx cd in your computer and play it with ePSXe
which supports d3d or openGL.
added bonus: savestates rock.

For the nth time: The PC version of FFVII is crap.

If you're still stupid enough to want to get to work somehow, go here:
http://forums.qhimm.com/viewforum.php?f=3

A higher resolution beta mod is here:
http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t ... 8ae41a50a1

You could, of course, just spare yourself fom wasting so much time trying to get FVII PC to run like it would on a PSX and download ePSXe, Pete's OpenGL2 plugin and Eternal SPU and use the PSX version to play it on your PC. With none of that shitty midi music that will plague the PC version no matter what (the only mod to have ever reproduced exact PSX music with the PC version crashes the game frequently. Rofl) and play it in any resolution you like. Just a thought.

there's a patch for the PC version - but i don't know if it's legit and, as i don't have the game for PC, i could not test it.

o'dium: you should get a PM soon.
