the next big inovation has already occured but we are kept in the dark about it.

drug companies probably already have cures for all kinds of diseases like cancer but goverment funding and big buck donations would dry up if they released the cures.

how many billions were spent on cancer and aids ?
don't believe that. things like that most likely come from years of research from scientists that work very hard at it, in order to continue their funding for research, and the most likely places are university research, which is something disconected from the strings of the government...those institutions will most definately want the recognition.

Pete: answer a question

What does "telling them to yourself" mean?

do you mean to say "telling that to youself"?

Something like that. I think he meant more along the lines of how does it feel to call yourself a nerd! Which is about as orignal as pete gets.

There are a number of reasons that this is not true, in addition to what has already been mentioned. For starters, grant money is not used for profit, so no one is making more money because the gov't is funding their research. Also, research fields, especially cancer and aids research, is highly competitive and if you don't publish your results, someone else will. I could go on...
