A town in Sweden is going to start freeze-drying corpses with liquid nitrogen, vibrating them until they shatter into fine powder, then it will be placed "into a small box made of potato or corn starch and placed in a shallow grave, where it will disintegrate within six to 12 months.

People are to be encouraged to plant a tree on the grave. It would feed off the compost formed from the body, to emphasise the organic cycle of life."

That sounds great to me. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. :icon14:

Burning removes all the nutrients from your body, I guess, and can't really be used to fertilize anything. Just doesn't seem as environmentally-friendly.

That's just a guess though, I can't really say for sure.

FINALLY AN ALTERNATIVE!!!
Burial is bullshit, and aside from cremation, there's no alternative. You just take up valuable space in the ground when you could be enriching the environment (however insignificant). I hope this comes to America before I die, because I'll be damned if my money goes into a stupid, over-priced coffin.

IIRC ashes are a very good fertilizer because they're rich in nitrogen.

Yes, ashes do make fairly good fertilizer, which is one reason your lawn will grow greener if you burn off the old grass.

They already have "natural" burials that you can do, where you're just plopped in the ground. I'd guess this power method reduces space and prevents excessively putrid decomposition. Other than that, I don't know what advantages it would have. Maybe people don't like the thought of having worms eat their dead anus.

I'd be sure to have an apple tree planted on my grave, so people could eat my remains and I could give them gut rot. :icon14:

personally I prefer this to being eaten by maggets and other filthy creatures over e long period of time. its just the idea

Probably. I've only heard of it done off in the country, away from towns.
