R00k wrote:LOL, are you the authority on such matters now, Dekard? Because you 'don't think' they would have enough internet access to upload pictures?

They are obviously US military pictures, and they are obviously from the last few years. Aside from that, they could be anything. But it's still very possible that they are from current conflicts in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Did I say the pictures aren't legit? Nope, never said that.. I'm talking about them trading the pics for porn.. sheesh, you people need comprehension classes...

Wow, thanks for that article..

Not to mention the geneva convention articles these GI's break by taking the pictures in the first place. Apparently since the beginning of the war, 3 years ago.. the internet situation has changed.. even that article said they shouldn't have access to the site, but apparently they still do from overseas.. the ones that spoke up in the article were from folks that came back.. anyhow that's nasty.. so much porn is free... why trade death pics from iraq/afghanistan is beyond me..

And again, comprehension comes into play again, I never said anyone was an idiot, I just stated I doubted the legitimacy of trading when you can get porn for free, why trade for it.. and I was wrong, thanks for the article!

Keep waving your American flag.

/me points, you spelled moron wrong! HAHAH.. umm actually, I was agreeing with the fact the photos were in poor taste and not something military folks should do, I was suggesting that the fact that they were trading for porn, may not be a legitimate issue when I was posted to other sources to back up the claim.

What is it really about? Death photos for porn?

No..

Its the taking of the photos of death to begin with, the trading for porn is just another slap in the face to the issue of taking said photos to begin with...

dont believe everything you read on the net.. also why trade for porn, when you can get it for free.. anyhow... it's dumb.. judge the pictures for yourself then choose the most likely conclusion, if you believe it you have less brain cells then I gave you credit for..
oh and by the way, I have a friend who was over there and he would send photos all the time. he was often online and had a good connection to the internet. He sent many gruesome photos. They are being traded by the soldiers. Yay!

Now he has post traumatic stress disorder and does not want to go back. Also he shot a guy. Yay!

I think photographs aren't harmful, they're just information. It's that they're being kept, and now used, as trophies.

But this has always been the case, and it's not isolated to American soldiers, so don't take it as an anti-american thing (at least not from myself).

Soldiers taking photos of the results of war = Makes sense
Using them as trophies, and that there are people out there actively collecting them = Bad

Agreed, the thing is taking of the photo's (soldiers for personal use/abuse) is against the geneva conventions.

No, the really sad part is the enjoyment some of them seem to be getting out of seeing a person ripped to shreds.

You have to develop a real callousness to kill people on a daily basis anyway. But the grinning thumbs up, and captions like "this is what all Iraqis should look like," seems to go a little beyond a self-defense mechanism.

That's the part that is sick, and is making us to look like savages to every other country in the world when they hear about these things.

nothing is wrong with the soldiers enjoying killing ppl...after all they are trained to be like that and the purpose of armies is to kill ppl and destroy stuff...its just that this is a touchy situation...christians occupying muslim lands and all that gay shit...they need to be kept in check by their commanders...guess thats not happening...oh well...actually they need to leave...one of our cities deserved to be nuked, thats for sure...
a defining attribute of a government is that it has a monopoly on the legitimate exercise of violence...

This type of behavior is very far from new. Do you expect people to NOT act like barbarians in barbaric circumstances?
