I know starlancer was freelancer's predecessor, but I wouldn't go as far as to call freelancer starlancer 2.

Freelancer has trading, factions, freeride and a 'revolutionary' new mouse interface.

True, but it was still a great game imo. Space never seemed so real before.

And you could also go trading or harvesting in the ore and debris fields. And the game was so vast that you only saw like 20% of the game area during the story. There was lots of stuff to be found just by exploring the outer systems. (Planet of the Apes, lost corsair mothership, secret nomad systems, secret corsair and outcast planets, etc.)

aye it was a good game. space games are pretty dead though :(

i played one called jumpgate for the duration of the trial, looked awful but it was a good mmmomomorgpg for people with really short attention spans.

you could pretty much just spend all your time in punch-ups, and there weren't a ton of things to understand before you could really start playing.

wish someone would make a new one, about the same level of complexity as freelancer - but there isn't really a market for it.

freelancer wouldve been so much better if it had 1 central server instead of all those private servers.

oh and chars stored on a seperate server instead of on the host server :icon33:

X2: The Threat is possibly the worst game to come out in the past 2 years.

It is marred by the single worst case of voice acting I have ever encountered, which ruins any atmosphere the game could have had.

If you play it on mute it becomes an average game with no sound.

I tried the demo and hated it. Didn't like the feel. Space felt a lot more 'real' in Freelancer.

Yeah, I picked the game super cheap awhile ago, never installed it. There is a lot to like (in theory) but I heard the interface was shit and it was a pain in the ass to get into.
