Speeding ticket(s) from Holland.

Post by reefsurfer »

I recived two speeding tickets(from highway cameras) from holland..they dident send pictures of the driver(me) and on the first ticket i've done 79kmh on a 70 street..they reduced it to 76kmh and on the other ticket i got 86kmh on a 70 street and they reduced it to 83kmh.
I can understand the 83kmh...but what the fuck is this 6kmh to fast going 76...a fucking old lady with a motorizedcart can pass me going 6kmh more...
I bet the dutch police just wanna nail that forigner(me) and set an example.

Anyway..the two tickets land on 75 euros and i dont wanna pay that money(sorry Eraser,MKJ,survivor and the rest)) because i would have gotten away with it in sweden on a 70kmh street and im just pissed because of the tiny fucking differance and because they dident send a photo of the driver... they have to do that in Sweden.

I've checked around and Holland dosent have any co-operation with Swedish goverment and not paying speeding tickets when your abroad.

What should i do.. :icon26:

Do you guys pay insurance for your car and is there some type of a point system in place if you get tickets?

I have a better idea. Buy a gun, and lots of ammo. Go back to holland. Kill the first seven homeless people you see. Then, cut your ticket into four equal sized quarters. Eat each piece of the ticket clockwise, starter from the upper left quadrant. Then, eat something Italian for dinner.

That'll show em.

6km over? and you don't think you should get prosecuted?

you're an idiot.

that said, don't bother paying the ticket unless they try and drag you back into court (in which case, tell them they'll have to fly you over to holland and house you for a week -- you pay the fine+court fees, and get a cheap holiday in holland :))

Neither would I. You can exceed the speed limit almost 10km/h here and not be pulled over/given a ticket.

In the Netherlands you won't be pulled over for speeding 6km, but you do get a ticket from the camera's.

Yeah sure, it's strict... arguably too strict, but hey, speeding is speeding. If you stuck to the speed limit, you wouldn't have this problem right now. You can't say I'm not paying these fines because I would've gotten away with it in Sweden. You're in the Netherlands so you have to stick to Dutch laws.

If you buy illegal guns in Sweden and you get caught and sent to jail, you're not saying that "Hey I'm not going to jail because I would've gotten away with it in Belgium"

In the Netherlands you aren't allowed to drive around in a car that's not covered under insurance. The minimum ensurance is the "WA" ensurance, which will pay for damages to someone else's car (but not your car) if you've caused an accident. This sort of insurance is forced to make sure no one causes an accident and isn't able to pay for the damages afterwards.

There's no real point system for tickets here like there is in, say, Germany, but I thought they were thinking about introducing it.

eraser nailed it. cops really wont pull you over if you go 6km/h faster than the limit (unless you're in a residental zone. going 70 there will prolly cost you your license :p ), but camera's are much more strict. they always reduce it by x because they dont wanna be total pricks.
they can be though :D

shit happens. stop speeding.

and shiznit saying "omg lol cant you fight them in court??". uh, no. we use the court of law for stuff that actual matters, like crimes and housing differences. not because the coffee was too hot :icon32:

I agree that speeding tickets are ridiculously expensive here in the Netherlands, but that's all the more reason for me not to break the speed limit.

Nah they never send the picture as far as I know. Maybe you can request it, dunno.

I don't know if you ever planned to come over here again, but if you didn't pay those tickets they would've took you apart at the airport (if you came flying ofcourse) and after strip searching you you'd have to pay up :p
