Freeware and Open Source apps

Post by +JuggerNaut+ »

you meatheads know by now i'm not a warez monkey like most of you so you probably cannot help me but perhaps you'll find some apps in these couple of lists that may tickle your fancy.

Software list for better computing

and

Ramsinks.com Free software list

if you have other apps not listed, please share. also, if you have a rant or a rave about any of these, do tell so we know whether to download or to stay away.

*edits*

i have some to add:

Captura - take screenshots of any section of your screen, adjusting size on the fly. saves as .jpg

dbpoweramp - "dBpowerAMP supports practically every audio type created: mp3, mp4, m4a, wma, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, Monkeys Audio, FLAC, the list goes on....fully compatible with Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT4 / 2000, Windows XP. Split into four components (no need to bloat your computer, install just what is required), all functioning seamlessly together:"

i personally use the music converter for .flac > "*" conversions. works just as well for .wav > whatever format you want, even AAC.

Nice. I noticed this Foxit PDF Reader and installed it. It's awesome. Opened a large PDF with it and it showed on my desktop instantly. No long ass loading time like with Adobe's Acrobat reader.

I'm mostly open source on this machine. Personally I think that warezing stuff only helpd the popularity of the product you're copying, if you really think they stink the best action is to find a better alternative.

i'm pretty sure my list of who does/doesn't warez most of their software, not to mention their OS, is pretty accurate.

what is 'warez' juggly
Pronounced wayrz or wayrss. Commercial software that has been pirated and made available to the public via an electronic Bulletin Board System (BBS) or the Internet. Typically, the pirate has figured out a way to de-activate the copy-protection or registration scheme used by the software. Note that the use and distribution of warez software is illegal. In contrast, shareware and freeware may be freely copied and distributed.
