Random Reboots (Video Drivers)

Post by SOAPboy »

Anyone heard anything "bad" bout the 7800GTXs yet? Ive been having constant reboots and there totally random.. Driving me bonkers honestly..

WHEN it reports an error, its saying the video drivers are the problem, and its due to them going idle or something?

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Seems it might of been ram not liking slots 1&3.. there in 2&4 now and seems to be working ok..

Yes, black reboots.. no bsod at all :-|

A64 3000
2x1024 OCZ pc3200
Evga 7800GTX
Evga something or nother board.. came with card

Bleh.. seems stable now tho.. dunno.. *shrug

I just dont get why ram would be the issue from a driver crashing.. i did end up rolling back to the lucky 7 drivers tho..

Unless your RAM was loose or something and changing slots corrected that.

Hope it holds up. Random crashes for no obvous reason are bloody irritating
Well i still got a few reboots with the drivers.. my moneys on the ram..

I HOPE it holds up as well.. tho im also hoping if the rams gonna die, it does it soon, because i need to RMA the shit before i ship my old machine off to whoever buys it..

heh, one nice little problem you've got there.

You got a extra vid. card laying around you can do some testing with? I would bet that RAM was just a little off of where it shoudl have been, a gentle little push back home might have done them good instead of moving them.

anywho, GL. :D

for RAM testing, get prime95 from mersenne.org. but sometimes, if your MB is misconfigured, you'll get an error as well.

and, i guess you use XP, you should turn the auto reboot option off so you get the blue screen info.

start -> controll panel -> system -> advanced -> somewhere; one of the first three options.

as i use a german XP version, i'm not 100% certain wether the names of the steps are the right ones but you should get the idea.
(if not, i'll look it up on my notebook where i have an english XP version installed)
