I think ipod is some what obsolete, there are tons of features that many other protable music players preform. I think it's acctually itunes and the apple label that are keeping the ipods still floating.

try a simplistic and intuitive interface, boatloads of accessories, and being a part of a monstruous community, all while being "hip" to some.
I'll probably go for one of the original ipods in a year or so's time.
Creative's line are PURE shit. I had real bad problems and their tech support absolutely fucked me. So really, don't go with creative. Their replacement for a broken player was a second hand dirty player with someone elses music on it. I still can't believe that shit.
the ipods I've used are great, and with the iTrip one would be ideal when I get a car.

creative's got the edge over the pod sound quality-wise thru the headphone outs, but it's negligable to most ears. not intuitive at all either.
jesus, playing with the nano's this morning, amazing product, so small it seems so delicate... definately buying a 4gb black... *adds to existing ipod collection*
