He wasn't fired. He just isn't in charge of the Katrina operations.

what worries me is that he'll end up being a scapegoat, diverting attention to the systemic problems.

Here's an interesting "discussion"

I'm quite disappointend in you Julios. You used to be moderately credible. Now ur heading to Freakaloin territory.

Fact from ur link below: Brown is still Director of FEMA and still in charge of the USA emergency homeland security stuff.

Ur title is just bullshit, dude.

So this guy has been flown back to Washington to do nothing, but still isn't losing a paycheck?

Nice.

The Bush administration has fucked FEMA up by the numbers since taking office. Cutting funding, staffing it with politically connected idiots, etc., etc.

Not to mention hijacking the agency for "terra-fighting" purposes, and burying it in a massive bureaucracy that was already underfunded and completely ineffective.

seems you're right - i didn't read the article carefully - when i saw the word about him being "relieved of duties" i assumed that was a euphemism for being fired.

edit: wtf you've only been on the boards for a month and you say I used to be moderately credible?

as in last month i used to be credible?

Yea basicly. Its like the government is sensing people are finaly going ... umm WTF ... after all this iraq shit and other things. Maybe the average american is finaly getting worn down enough to stop focusing on their SUV and fake tits and give half a shit about other people and be outraged when they get fucked over.

Naa, who am i kiding.

he wasn't actually 'fired' from FEMA, unfortunately. removed from Katrina relief, yes. hopefully a firing is in short order.
