Someone may have illegally entered my house

Post by bitWISE »

So my step-brother and I were both gone from 9am-7pm today and our back door was left unlocked and potentially the door leading in from the garage. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal but when I first walked into my room I noticed my dirty clothes pile looked different. Then my friends were going out for a smoke break and I noticed my cigarettes and both lighters were missing. Then I noticed my old cell phone, the AE shorts I wore last night, and my $80 buckle jeans were gone. While looking for my jeans I noticed a bracelet that had been on my desk had been tossed off into the corner under some clothes.

Nothing else was touched that I can see. Which is the most confusing part. This leads me to believe it was my ex because she hated the fact I was a light smoker. But why take the other stuff? Why not take my step-brother's $2000 camera bag? Why not our computer or gaming shit? Maybe even my check book?

I'm not sure whether I just flat out accuse my gf (which wont really do anything because she will deny it), booby trap the house so that I can tell if someone re-enters, or just forget about it and lock up tighter.

You need to report the breakin immediately for insurance purposes.

After that do an inventory of anything valuable and make sure nothing is missing. What about your parents' stuff?

I don't live with my parents. Nothing is missing other than that stuff. You think I'm going to claim a pair of pants, a pack of cigarettes and a broken ass cell phone on my insurance?

aye, report it, tell them the story n shite

then after a week or so if the shit dun turn up, well, do whatever

id say to the X was you in my house the other day, just keep calm and if she acts odd when she responds then ya know.. if she dont then just carry on playing the blame game :]

or if you wanna do a boobytrap... yea camera ;]

you always leave your back door open though ? does your X visit often ? its kinda odd how the door and your X jus so happens to meet on the same day

No but you may later discover some items missing which you wont then be able to claim.

Additionally if anything ever comes of it, you won't have a leg to stand on if you didn't report it.

Third, if it really was your ex, reporting it to police will really shit her up about it. If you mention it offhand, there's a greater chance she'll confess or you'll be able to tell.

Any way of looking at it, if someone been in your house which you were out, you'd be a fool not to report the crime to the police.

I personally wouldn't report it - as long as your bro knows about it you've got a witness.

But like Chunk said, it seems like a crazy coincidence that your ex would show up on the day you happen to leave your house unlocked - do you leave it open a lot?

Yes, report it immediately and get written documentation of your report.

1- family dont make a good witnesses.. ive watched enough judge mathis to know this

2- the type of stuff that was stolen (and the type of stuff that wasnt) really does hint that the person who stole his shit knew him.. a random burglar would have taken a lot more, and woudlnt have been as selective

no1 is true

but as for no2, we know this but what i was getting at is, is it possible that you moved or someone else moved shit round and your being a tad parnoid because its pretty mad how his X finds the back door open on the day she visits

unless she visits everyday and uses the back door its a tad coincidental

like he said, i can understand her taking the fags because its her pet hate but why she take a busted phone, a random pair of jeans and go through his dirty washing whilst throwing a bracelet on the floor

unless shes trying to fuck with your head, but still, why ?

edit: i know my typing is utter ass (nothing new) but ive had a few brews and i do apologise

I'd report it just so there is a record of it in case something happens later, or you and your gf break up and she goes nutso and steals a lot of your shit or whatever...

Well...it's my step-brother's house and he's not so sure we should report it so I don't think I will.

I'm going to bluff my ex tomorrow and see what happens. She has stolen my cigarettes before which is what makes it so much more likely.
