Might be the burner (DVD) and the video card. Those would be my guess. It was the video card that set it apart from the model below it.
I'm really curious how yours would compare in a 3dmark test.
Run the default test at native resolutin and see what it comes up with.
Lets see if your faster processor offsets my video card advantage.

i dunno how picky you are but that video still shares system ram.
i think you would be happy in the long run if you could squeeze a little more out and get the x700.
at least you would actually be able to enjoy a game once in a while. with good frames to boot.

I noticed that shared memory bit. It doesn't sound like Jackal is concerned though, as long as it plays WoW. I suppose it depends on your priorities.
How fast is the DDR ram included?

the guy at teh shop mentioned that this laptop is easy to upgrade in terms of ram. It only has one 512 stick in there right now so I can upgrade it to a gig any time I want.

Just ran the tests on my notebook, using the same settings (1280x800 and default settings).

I'm more interested in your CPU score though.

Yeah, I spent quite a bit of cash but I really think that it was worth it.

The retail on it was over $2000 with 512MB of RAM. I got the notebook, extra life battery plus an extra 512 stick of memory for all under 2k.
Lets also compare apples to apples here, this notebook is ten times superior in terms of quality to any Dell, Acer, or Gateway notebook.
I bought a dell laptop a few months ago
Pentium M 1.86GHz
2GB DDR2 (from NewEgg)
80Gig HD (5400rpm)
Geforce 6800 Go 256MB
17in screen
WiFi
16x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability
128MB Usb Memory key
all for around ~$1500 with 40% off coupon :icon25:
