The other thing about this collection Foo is the general frustration of getting them all to work in the easiest manner possible. Quake 3 cuts off the map selection screen after an x number of paks, and then you need to go back to baseq3 and look through the giant collection for the map name. And sometimes you need to look for the .map file to get the correct name.

If there was a text file provided with the names needed to launch a map from the console, that would be nice especially for new players. You could print it out and go off a checklist if you ever wanted to give each map a small try offline. :)

Can't something be done about this with the source out now?

I've got another project in the pipeline which is all about getting rarely played content online. Unfortunately it's stalled quite hard and I need a lot of assistance to get it off the ground. Something I'll probably put away for another 6 months or so.

Probably, I wouldn't be surprised if a bug-fixing client improved the map selection screen when one sees the light of day.

That's only a small problem though, the maps are jumbled like a giant mess in the select screen. I think, they are not efficiently alphabetized and because some maps are tourney/ffa/tdm maps there is some confusion as to under which setting the map actually resides in.

Q3s interface was always absolutely horrible. Not sure we'll see any work on it though, I would have expected such a team to announce their work already?

I think there's a good chance we might see something. The source has probably ignited a ton if interest in the programming community. That q3 coding forum has a nice topic where people assemble all the vq3 bugs which will definately be of use to some people. Q2 has a fantastic bug-squashing client, R1Q2, I hope something like that can appear in Q3 as well.

Yeah I almost forgot about this one. I've tried it a while ago, it's pretty good.

yep, before the downtime of Q3W I had r3tina as nick around here, but for some reason I couldn't register it again. I currently use both r3t and r3tina.

We stumbled upon one of your maps whilst looking for new possibilities for the Jolt DML actually. I had to check to make sure it was yours actually heh.

Anyway good job Foo... its gonna be a pain in the ass to upload, and I hope enough people leech/seed it.
do you remember which map? Always nice to hear when they draw (some) attention :icon25:

I'm seeding, however the tracker is a POS and is down most of the time.

Anyway, you should get the download rolling even without seeds, as there are plently of peers halfway through the download

I'm staying up for a 1:1, I've got a monthly limit of 15Gb and so far I've racked up 9Gb already.

Soon as I get it all I'll seed it for a while. I don't think I've come anywhere near my monthly limit.

Yeah, use Azureus - the distributed database means that you don't need a tracker.
