speakers to pc / laptop

Post by Zyte »

I want to connect my old stereo's speakers to my laptop but i have no idea how to, or if it's even possible. I suck at anythig technical..

Anyways, each speaker was connected to my stereo with one red wire and one red/black wire. I actually made a perfectly focused pic of them :o

So is there a way to get these things properly connected to my laptop or pc? A converter or something?

if possible, grab a stereo/amp lying around (if that's the kind of thing you have lying around, or something), and get a stereo male-male cable and plug that into your speaker/headphones port and the other end into either you "mic in" or "aux in" on your stereo/amp. hook up your big speakers to your stereo/amp thing, and voila!

Thanks Glossy, that sounded quite logical and doable for a person like me :) However, it didnt work out. I used a male-male cable as you said but i had to use a converter at the end that i put in my stereo/amp cause it would only fit with converter. The other end of the male in my frontside audio, still, no sound.

Pic of my setup, might help you help me ;p

nein, it's the other way round. the headphones in the laptop -> the mic/aux in the stereo. it's more likely around the back somewhere

Packard Bell is still around?

Fucking NICE wallpaper!

Um, you might also want to turn on the stereo :p If it doesn't have a mic input you might want to look for RCA inputs and in that case you could use a Y cable.

I dont think this is gonna happen. There's no mic input, there is an aux input at the back of the stereo, one for left one for right but the cable doesnt quite fit :{

ah!

you need to pick yourself up a cable like i have, i remember. i think you want male stereo -> stereo RCA cable, and that'd sort you very decent.

you have the same setup as me :)

here's that wallpaper bw.

btw packard bell yeah. Got it last week, its nothing special, but good enough for what i need it for and its quite cheap for a laptop. I got it from my parents so i didnt really dare to ask for a 2000 dollar laptop. Im very content with it so far.

male RCA cable! don't forget because there is male and female and all kinds of stuff and if you mix em up you end up playing vengaboys and village people and/or femmerock and it's downhill from there.

glad to be of assistance
