I think the Jaguar estimate is way off.

I'd pin it around 1,000,000

The Jaguar bombed HARD. The only decent game to come out on it was Tempest.

If anything, i'm more surprised by the Mega Drive sales figures.

Don't forget Aliens v Predator, Tempest 2000, Doom, Wolf3D, Worms, Rayman, Theme Park.

Anyway, I'm basing the estimate on the number of them I saw in use, and the number that are showing up now for second hand sales.

Compare those numbers to the virtual boy (one of those shows up every blue moon, and takes a long time to shift), and it's apparent that the Jag sold more units (at least in the UK) than the VB.

Quite from AtariTimes website:
I can't think of a single company that has released exact sales figures. Unfortunately, since Atari was bounced around so many times, it's not likely we will ever know for sure.

The most common figure I've heard from the video game rags for the Jaguar was 150,000 sold (and we all know how "reliable" those guys are concerning the Jaguar.) However, I have a hard time believing that because the Jaguar was rumored to have sold 100,000 units when they cost still $250. Since then, there were tons of price drops. So, it's very unlikely that the Jaguar only sold another 50,000 units in the 1 1/2 years that it cost $159 or less.
So looks like I was probably off by a factor of 10, and so was the estimate.

haw, nintendownt!
Nintendo asked Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on called "PlayStation" for the SNES. However after Sony revealed that they were developing it, Nintendo instead went to Philips. This caused Sony to consider abandoning their research, however instead they used what they had developed so far and make it into a full blown console. This led to Nintendo filing a lawsuit claiming breach of contract and attempted, in U.S. federal court, to obtain an injunction against the release of the PlayStation, on the grounds that Nintendo owned the name. The federal Judge presiding over the case denied the injunction.

When I was a kid my uncle brought some console from his work and gave it to me for a few days. I have no idea which console it was but it was orange, had cartridges and it was 8bit or 16bit. I haven't been able to find what it was the year was probably 1991-1992.

I think one of the games was power rangers or something like that and another one was prince of persia. Any ideas?

Yeah I'm guessing it was but I've never seen a orange one and in my memory it was clearly orange not red.

I think it had the slider reset.

Famicoms only came in gray and red. The gray variety was only offered in a few select countries.

BTW, the only orange console I can recall is the original PONG system. It had tennis, PONG, and hockey. I have this system still :) .

Maybe you're thinking of the NES knockoff machine Tengen that was offered in countries with little to no copyright law?

Now that I think of it, Brazil had the best NES and illegal third party peripherals.

I remember:

*Famicom to Nes converters
*Nes to Famicom converters
*Nes to sega master system converters
*Master system to Nes converters
*Pre chipped Famicoms with 22 games programmed in it
*Various 22 in 1 and 66 in 1 cartridges with tons of games
*Tengen console(yeah...it existed) and games
*Cartridge bootlegs.

Fuck I miss being a kid in Rio.
