Nothing like a retail store that sells obsolete hardware. I couldn't even imagine running on a speed-stepped laptop that only had 256mb RAM.JulesWinnfield wrote:http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=4025846

BTW don't get an acer, they break. Quickly.
My previous one which I used for work lasted 3 years, till it got stolen out of my car. Plus the company I used to work for used several that got carried around a lot at constructions sites and everything and still worked fine. Are you talking about any specific models?Geebs wrote: Not sure that a 3 generations old graphics card is a brilliant idea if you want to play WoW.

I guess an Apple's out of the question though Jackal?
To be honest, if I were buying a laptop, it would HAVE to be a Mac, even given the quality of PC laptops these days.
I wouldn't touch their desktops for home usage at the moment, but for laptops, they're still the best.
AND there's a Mac version of WoW...

Nice HP system, probably better than what you could get for the same price from Dell.

I realize the price is before taxes, how much are you paying for shipping? Or are you picking it up at some store?

I just picked up a new LG LW60 Wide Express yesterday. It is very, very pleasant.
P740M 1.7Ghz
1gig DDR2
60GB hdd
533mhz bus
ATI X600 64MB video card
15.4 SXGA wide screen
All the wifi
16x dvd-RAM/RW
And it comes with a remote because it contains an minor BIOS level OS that allows the notebook to boot from off into a special DVD/CD playing mode that works with the remote just like anyother dvd/cd player.
Under $2200CAD too, so I have no complaints.

You could've done a little better for that price, Frank.

I doubt it. I got it at wholesale from one of my distributors with an extra %10 off because it was for internal use.
The retail on it was over $2000 with 512MB of RAM. I got the notebook, extra life battery plus an extra 512 stick of memory for all under 2k.
Lets also compare apples to apples here, this notebook is ten times superior in terms of quality to any Dell, Acer, or Gateway notebook.

I'm not knocking your LG notebook, it's probably a fine system. All I'm saying is that you could've done a little better shopping around (given how much you paid).

I haven't seen the full specs on your system, perhaps there's an expensive nugget hidden in the details.

I bought a 12" powerbook in april and it took a week or so to get used to the OS X interface. It's quite a clever design and it works great IMO. I'm using my powerbook more than my XP desktop machine atm (and I only use the PC to sync my Windows Mobile PDA with Outlook).Jackal wrote:I just dont enjoy the macs interface. I've had a PC all my life and I think I'm stuck with em.
