How it will affect their congressional agenda!

Boy they're really coming out to show some support now! Five dollar words a-plenty, and reassurances that "Not an hour goes by that we do not spend a lot of time thinking about the people who are actively suffering."
I'll bet everybody's feeling a lot better now that they know Chertoff and Bush think about them every hour - after all, the only thing the hurricane victims really need is some public attention!

No I'm just saying, The disaster has happened there's shit we can do about that. It's ok to feel sorry for them and all but otherwise you expect the whole world to stop? And how long exactly should people wait?
I'm not trying to be insensitive here because I really do feel those poor bastards are completely fucked down there but it's not the end of the world. Well for them maybe.

I read today that the food distribution point that Bush visited was a set up for the photo op and that it was gone an hour after he left.
Wouldnt surprise me if it was true.

I didn't say anything about expecting the "whole world to stop." I'm talking about the leaders of the infrastructure in this country actually doing something to help, instead of just talking about how much they're thinking about it. Today is Sunday.Kracus wrote:No I'm just saying, The disaster has happened there's shit we can do about that. It's ok to feel sorry for them and all but otherwise you expect the whole world to stop? Chertoff was the one who said that, and he runs Homeland Security, which is what FEMA is under, because Bush put it there.
I didn't say Bush should personally direct any relief work - that would be a fucking nightmare. But we've got the head of FEMA, under Chertoff, who just said on Thursday that he didn't even know people were in the superdome until the news anchor told him on air. And then Bush publicly praised the good job he is doing. And their statements are turning into the 9/11 commission report on this -- "No one could have known." :icon22:
Meanwhile it's taken them nearly a full week to start any sort of noticeable activity, and the whole time they have been denying help from states, aid organizations and 50 countries who have offered aid.
And still, they think the important casualty in this disaster is their political agenda and capital. No, I'm not surprised, but it still pisses me off.

Then you've got these instances of the wonderful job their doing:

I see they've since removed the part where one of the Superdome refugees pointed out that the people in the hotel had clean clothes, combed hair, and were carrying all their luggage with them.lines of people a half-mile long snaked from the dome through the nearby Hyatt Regency Hotel, then to where buses waited. Babies were held over parents' heads, and the sun beat down mercilessly. State troopers, making every effort to be cheerful, handed out bottles of water and tried to keep families and groups together.
At one point Friday, the evacuation was interrupted briefly when school buses pulled up so some 700 guests and employees from the hotel could move to the head of the evacuation line — much to the amazement of those who had been crammed in the Superdome since last Sunday.

Whenever I think of this disaster I think to myself... Man... I wish it had been bigger so it could have wiped out ALL of jesus land.R00k wrote:I didn't say anything about expecting the "whole world to stop." I say this as a jest and really though it's the souths fault for putting GWB in power in the first place so really... This is just Karma. It's the end result of putting the wrong man in charge. It sucks, that's for sure but really it could have been avoided. So GG Jesus Land.

Yea, I'm interested to know if that can be verified or not; it was a German news station which was supposedly there and witnessed the sham:blood.angel wrote:I read today that the food distribution point that Bush visited was a set up for the photo op and that it was gone an hour after he left.

If true, then Bush basically came in and stopped all air-based aid with his presence (for security), so he could set up a phony aid station, have some pictures taken, then tear it back down and leave.

i don't know if u saw but when bush went to NO, on tv they showed a single bulldozer dropping dirt at the levee like it was being repaired...well that was set up for the cameras...after bush left so did the bulldozer...pathetic...
a defining attribute of a government is that it has a monopoly on the legitimate exercise of violence...
Yea, it was a Senator who pointed that out. Ridiculous.Freakaloin wrote:i don't know if u saw but when bush went to NO, on tv they showed a single bulldozer dropping dirt at the levee like it was being repaired...well that was set up for the cameras...after bush left so did the bulldozer...pathetic...
I agree, the time taken to mount a relief effort is an absolute disgrace. What the fuck were they thinking?R00k wrote:Meanwhile it's taken them nearly a full week to start any sort of noticeable activity, and the whole time they have been denying help from states, aid organizations and 50 countries who have offered aid.

What? That's the best response you got? The point I stated is very valid. You're talking about how no one is doing anything and the people doing that are people that were voted in or got their jobs because of people they put there. Those people are either directly there because of them or inderectly. The funding cuts and other issues not being discussed are also responsible for this disaster, again because of the people in the south too ignorant and corrupt to even care. Even now those same people are laughing and it's because sheep like those in the south are too stupid to open their eyes. Even with this disaster I bet most of them are too stupid to even realize it's their fault to begin with for letting themselves be used by Bush but mainly greedy men in power.R00k wrote:LOL. Instead, I bet they'll just blame God lol. That's amusing.
