What to look for in an average TV?

Post by bitWISE »

Well, after going 3 years without a television in my room I think I finally need to get one. First, it would be nicer than running my gamecube/xbox through a converter and into my monitor. Second, I wouldn't mind being able to watch some TV here and there (especially college football).

I'm looking for something around 27-35" (widescreen would kick ass) and as cheap as possible BUT I could probably go as high as $500. I know that I want it to have a flat screen and atleast s-video (preferably components) but other than that I don't know much about TVs. What features are gimmicks and which are worth looking for?

Well what I mean is shit like this:
# FST Black picture tube delivers high-contrast images for a sharp and vibrant display

# 3-line digital comb filter brings out fine picture detail and enhances color purity

all 16x9 will have components. $500 a bit low, but maybe you can find a floor model locally. i helped my friend get a 32" Panny for a tick over $750. Original price was $1160. at your price level though, just stick with a brand name if you can help it.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Thats a great deal and if it were available in a local store I would have gotten it. The more I thought about it the more I realized I wanted the best looking low-end set which happened to be a Philips at Target.

Yeah I had 10% off if I used my Target card. So far it's working out very well. 27", flat tube, component, svideo, and 3 rca inputs. The image quality out of my DVD player is just amazing and the sound isn't bad either.

If it's a small room then 27" should be good.

I would be sure to check how many inputs and outputs it has. Video in, Video out, Audio out. Stuff like that is good to keep in mind.
