Denzzzzzzzz---------------> RC Planes

Post by -SKID- »

Hey chief. I know you fly planes out in Grantsville, so thought I would hit you up with some questions. Im a nub, and I recently bought these two planes.

http://www.masportaviator.com/ah.asp?CatID=1&ID=53

The first because its a cheaper, electric Park Flyer, and I figure it would be easier, and cheaper(if or when I crash it) to learn to fly before the bigger nitro powered plane.

Where abouts is that RC park in Grantsville, Im out there almost every other day, but dont know where it is.

Will any nitro fuel work in the plane? Or do I have to purchase some specifically for Planes? Do I need to buy a starter for this thing, or just risk my fingers. :) What in the way of glow plugs, adjustments, and such do I need to do with the engine? The guy said its new, and hasnt been completely broken in yet. How do I go about doing that? Cant think of anymore right now, and hopefully you can help me out. :)

Hey ICQ me and I can call you, There is a ordeal going on out there this Saturday you prolly don't want to miss.

There will be a club going out there that tow sail planes up and fly them around. Now these aren't little sail planes these are 12' wing span pulled up with a 1/4 scale Extra 300. These guys have been doing it for a very long time and they are good at it. I will be out there as well with a friend of mine. I will be flying one of my planes and so will he. I taught him how to fly a few years back and he is just learning on my plane. (getting him off his trainer)

Well anywayz we plan on having alot of fun this Saturday so get ahold of me and we can meet up.

If you need someone to teach you how to fly I can do that as well. Just let me know in advance so I can take out my buddy cord. As long as you have a Futaba Radio.

Hey, I dont have ICQ. Do you have messenger? Sounds like it would be a lot of fun on Saturday, but my day is booked. :\ Im going hunting all day, and then out with my fiance all night. Thanks for the heads up though. I dont have a Futaba radio yet. But i know they are good radios, so I might get one in the future depending on how well all this goes :) Add me if you have msn skid_68@hotmail.com , if not I guess I could get ICQ. I dont have the planes yet, as I just ordered them yesterday, and today. So they will be here by next week im sure. Then I can start to learn. Thanks. :)

Depends on the motor, I run 10% Nitro.

Do I need to buy a starter for this thing, or just risk my fingers?

A good running motor doesn’t need a Starter but it’s always best to have one on hand just incase you flood the engine or if you have a hard time starting it again after a run.

What in the way of glow plugs, adjustments, and such do I need to do with the engine? The guy said it’s new, and hasn’t been completely broken in yet. How do I go about doing that?

Get the engine properly adjusted by the needle valve, you have to listen to the motor to find out if it’s running real smooth at idle and at full throttle and while the nose of the plane is pointing straight up. This will lean out the engine and if it don’t stall then you’re good to go. As far as breaking in a motor running it at different speeds for a whole tank full of fuel will break in the motor enough to fly it.

Can’t think of anymore right now and hopefully you can help me out.

Went to an air show last month and saw some Jet model aircraft... impressive pieces of kit but very twitchy.

Also saw a real xtra300 pulling stunts, and the eurofighter going through its paces.

Impressive stuff.
