yea, because the US has NEVER helped other nations in the midst of natural disasters....and I'm not talking just government help here (which has been admittedly weak in some cases) I'm talking about the numbers of volunteers, my own brother being one, who have packed up and gone to help in areas hit by floods, earthquakes, etc. etc. etc....

it's funny how folks antipathy towards the current administration and its policies spills over to include every american citizen - wishing all sorts of hell to befall them because you want to see how Bush has to eat shit when handling it and how a small group of zealots rants about it being part of God punishing them...

you have no idea what is in the heart and mind of the majority of americans who detest Bush and his foreign policy - his fucking approval rating is barely 40%, which is still 40% too high...

but ffs, you rant like the rest of the world is populated by an enlightened group of people whose politicians are above corrupt behavior...

haha.. i was watching fox. They interviewed some guy who wasnt going to evacuate and the guy responds "none of your fucking business"

not even remotely true. US govt aid is among the lowest in the western world, and the majority of it goes to israel and egypt, two US clients, and not for humanitarian reasons either. the remainder is largely linked to the needs of US businesses re. cutting 'trade barriers' etc.

please note that i said US GOVT. i've no idea how much ordinary americans give to international charities, but it's fair to say that the US is better placed to deal with hurricanes than bangladesh is to deal with massive floods. it's also fair to say that the "same shit happens here, no one gives a fuck" cuts the other way rather more sharply than it does the way you mean.

if you are talking the government giving as a percentage of the nations gdp, maybe you are right, but in terms of dollar amounts the u.s. government gives more aid than any nation in the world.
