HL2 singleplayer..

Post by reefsurfer »

.. is STILL fucking jaw dropping!
Havent had steam or hl2 installed for 3-4 months so i thought i should give it a go this morning when i woke up... and man, i been playing sp nonstop for 5 hours now.

I've said it before and im saying it again.. HL2 is the best SP adventure ever made.
The expansion is due to Q4 of 2005.. then maybe we can have alot of questions answered.

Gotta get back in.

ps. if ya havent played it for awhile, start it up again, you will be suprised.

Aye, even though some of the levels are lower detail than Quake 1 (lol), it WAS a great game to play.

Kicked Doom 3's arse.

Yep, fantastic game and I've been thinking of firing it up for a few weeks now.

Which ones? I've not played it for months and months.

Anything indoor. Its like you know how id got "curves" in Q3 and then used them EVERYWHERE, so some rooms were just big curve things? Well, its almost as if Valve forgot they added them, so you walk into a room, and its just a square. Sure, you dont have curves on everything in real life, but some of the rooms are very "sparse" in HL2 in terms of raw detail.

Still a fantastic game though. Until you get the blue Gravity gun, then it becomes too easy :(

what's that? o'dium complains about graphical detail in a computer game? that's absurd! :p

Back when i played HL2, it ran at 20fps on minimum settings, and BSOD'd my computer at every level load. when i eventually upgrade my computer, i'll buy it for real and see how it runs.

... unless it's abandonware by then :(

Ahhhh yeah, the blockiness thing, actually that was pretty apparent sometimes.

And yeah the gravity gun made it stupidly easy, the bit you had to do to finish the game was done as if they wanted to get down the oub on a Friday afternoon, far too simple.

I'm not gonna start drinking for at least another 2 hours :)
Going against doctor's orders is a risky move, mate. Well, fine. Just don't blame me when you wind up all sober and twisted. (hf tonight though, bedtime for me :icon8:, 6am start)

woa... gotta take a break!
it's so awsome.. im just walking around checking out details and loving it, it feels like the first time i played it.

What a story, what a great atmospher.. the combine police, the surroundings, the music... everything... just wow.
I sincerly hope they will make a movie out of this game.. and not with that faggot director uwe boll, but with someone that really understand the story and can make the settings look exactly like in the game... just imagine sitting in the theather and see (actor name here) running in the streets (europe location that fits here) with a few resistance fighters and a huge strider shows up...

ooh moma.. i would pee my pants in happines! :icon30:

Half-Life 2's SP was pretty good, but I've played more exciting single player games lately. Case in point RE4.

System Shock 2 and Deus Ex are still the best for me. Then the entire HL series as a single item.

Equilibrium...rings more true to the "big face" over all the screen sorta thing that HL2 had going on. But thats just my take on things...

so you judge a game after it's easy/hard settings?
jeeez.. fuck off and get banned again will ya.

and btw, you couldent pick Hard nor Easy.. unless your talking about "combat difficulty".

Have it occured to you that the developers maybe wanted you to enjoy the story, surroundings, characters etc instead of ripping your hair out because of some insanely hard puzzles or 50 combine soldiers attacking you at once?

dident think so..

That's so fucking stupid. Know many curvey rooms in a inner city residential area in Eastern Europe? Because I fucking don't.

Also there were plenty or curved structures in 'Water Hazard'.
