Guys what are those huge brace things called?

I'm fetching ideas for monster models and the mouth area popped up...

Anyways remember about 20 years ago kids in films never had these tiny braces, but they had huge things sticking out of their mouth, what were they called? It wasn't just brace was it?

retainer the missus told me as well...

Cant find any pics of the buggers... I'm after one for our artist to design one sticking out of her face, piercing through the skin. You know, normal stuff.

Yeah like those, how they work, but just from the mouth the design will be. The idea is to have it sticking through her mouth and outward, through the cheeks, exposing her teeth below. Heh.

Gotta go to work in a min. Nobody understands me there :(
