I think I just formatted my 80 gig drive with all my files on it.
Well at least alot of my warez files and probably some porn.
Not sure if eraser will be able to recover them.

If you told teh computer to format a drive, but kow that it never did, is it possible to recover the files? I did that to one of mine and I need them back.
Well I had two hard drives.
Installed windows on the 1st one and updated it all.
Then I decided to check it with Partition Magic.
Well it couldn't see it because of some error. So I disconnected the 2nd drive and did an fdisk and cleared up the first hard drive.
Hooked up the 2nd hard drive and thought I'd format the 1st hard drive and then install windows.
Well when I plugged in the 1st hard drive it didn't connect properly and I formatted the 2nd thinking I was formatting the 1st one.

You can most likely recover the files, but it will be expensive as hell.
CompUSA doesn't do anymore than you could do at home though. I had a buddy who took a drive in -- it wasn't even formatted or written over, they drive had just failed. They tried slaving it and hooking it up to a different PC and couldn't get it to work. They charged him like 40 bucks. Never tried putting the platters in a different case or anything.
File Scavenger did the trick for me when my disks ruined for some reason and the disk wasn't working unless I formated it all over. Had to copy it out though to another disk, then format and put everything back.

If you're talking about andy though, he could buy a new one that's the same model as his old one, and swap the platters out and get the data that way.
yep, was pointed at Andy.
@ $70, who cares. everyone can afford that.
Yeah but those pictures are priceless....I'll take a looksy for some recovery programs next week. thx
Just search google for file recovery. I've found a few that work fairly well. RecoverMyFiles, REST2514 and FileRecoverXP should all do what you're looking for.
If what you're saying is correct anyway, and the format never occured.
