I was trawling through my brain trying to come up with decent explanations for ye (I work with the stuff every day), but Pho's links are fantastic.
EDIT: Although I will add that most professional equipment uses BNC connectors rather than RCAs.

yes, yellow + red + white is audio + compsite rca (the yellow one)
if you run coax, you'll get better quality than the composite RCA
if you're TV doesn't have component or svideo input, all you can really do is get another tv if thats what you want to use.
yes, any new tv worth the money has svideo and component
my sony wega TV is ~3 years old and it has component, svideo, coax, and composite inputs.

It says "S-Video Yes" but there's only the Y/W/R combo at the front and back of the TV, and other reviews say it doesn't have s-video.
