I have tried too connect to numerous servers, and it wont go...
I specify the server, then hit connect, and i get something like this:
"Awaiting Challege... 1" etc etc etc...
Whats wrong?
Thanks

Cant Connect to any server...
- While you are connecting, open up the console (to open the console press the tilde key "~" on your keyboard), are there any error messages?
- Make sure a firewall is not blocking it, (better yet turn it off IF you have a hardware based one).
- This problem seems to afflict some users behind routers. If you have a router try the following:
(Type it in, do not cut and paste)
127.0.0.1 authorize.quake3arena.com
- Open the console while you are trying to connect to the server by pressing the tilde key ("~") on your keyboard and type "/timescale 200". This will allow you to attempt to connect to a server at a faster rate.
Good Luck!

- 1. Try playing online without the router to see if that works.
2. If the router is using DCHP, try setting your computer to a static IP.
3. Right-click on the Quake III shortcut you use to start the game and select Properties. In the Target field you'll see a line like "C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe", add the Quake III net_port command to specify a unique communication port for each system. The complete field should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe" +set net_port 27660
4. Forward ports 27960 and 27660.

I am having a similar problem, I am unable to connect/ play multiplayer online.
I have the quake 3 arena demo.
Also a linksys router.
Followed instructions provided by Cooldown (except playing online w/out router.... would be a mess for me to disconnect reconnect network)
Am trying to connect with all seeing eye.
Set pc for static ip.
Enabled DMZ, and port fowarding.
Modified shortcut target field.
Also modified hosts file and timescale....
One possile error message. It states:
"Couldn't set Dl coop level"
Windows firewall disabled.
Is there any other suggestions that may help me hop online to play this game.... Is it even possible to play online with the demo? Thanks

First of all that's a very bad idea. Setting your PC to be a DMZ (De-Militarized Zone) means that there is no firewall what-so-ever protecting your PC. This not only means that every multiplayer game or internet application works, it means that your PC is completely and utterly insecure. I suggest you turn DMZ off and only forward the ports that you need to your PC.GamePC=Smoke wrote: Enabled DMZ, and port fowarding.

Windows firewall disabled.
Also the problem you're having doesnt seem to be a problem with your net connection (especially counting the drastic measures you've taken to try to make it work

And yes, you can play the Q3 demo online.
You can pick up Q3 for about £5 these days, maybe get the full game?
Sorry this wasn't really much help, just I thought I'd alert you of the security risks of DMZing a PC with no firewall.
