Again, I know that, you know that, we all know that. But there will always be paranoid types out there (sys I am not saying you were paranoid here, this is a discussion beyond your specific situation). And I still say that I'd rather see them go and fudge the story a bit instead of not going at all.

Geebs and Saturn - I know enough about science, medicine, etc., to know that lying is not a preferrable option. All I am trying to say is: If the only way a person is going to go get treatment is by lying to the docs about what happened, I'd rather see them do that and go than to not go at all.

Every doc that has misdiagnosed my kidney problem should get them too. Especially when I catch them making mistakes discussing the issue with me. hehe.

I still haven't managed to find a medical rotation yet. Plus being a generalist is fun; and I'm basically running the department much of the time. You get lots of excitement because you're far to busy to see everything, so you just have to wander around and hope you catch the cock-ups before they happen; like last night we had a bloke in with epigastric pain, who got seen by one of the new house officers; they come up to me and say "what would you do", so I say "bloods, erect chest and abdo; by the way, is their abdomen soft?", they go "yeah, absolutely", I reply "sure?", they say "yes". Then I see the X-ray come back with tons of air under the diaphragm, sprint in there and the patient's got an obvious acute abdomen. After that I check the notes and find out that the house officer was planning on sending the guy home with some lansoprazole.....

Gotta love it when the new doctors turn up every 6 months. I never get sick of them coming up to me and saying "hey, this patient's potassium's come back as 8, is that bad?" :D

Yes, I actually changed all the lab results by spontaneously changing the composition of my urine and blood. I'm a good liar like that. :p

8 millimoles? my god!

I guess the excitement of controlling the situation is fun. That's what attracted me to anesthesiology, be master of the situation and solve problems before they are there.

I'm gonna start next month, first months doing research so I don't have to be the newest guy taking all the crap ;)

I'd diagnose you with the syndrome of Munchhausen! In fact, this region had some fake patient that faked illness and had lots of treatments and tests in different hospitals (maybe even surgery) and he was always gone before they noticed that he was actually fine. They caught him a few months ago. Costed the hospitals thousands in unpayed bills.

Renal patients are great fun. You look at the blood results, crap yourself and then go round to see them and they look absolutely fine and just came in because they have a bit of hayfever or something. The particular patient I'm thinking about had a perfectly normal ECG

These threads, i dunno. It's like asking for wrong information. Even saturn & geebs can easily be wrong since it's an INTERNET FORUM :0

I haven't read everything but I have to say, I asked saturn for medical advice once privately and he gave me some sound, trustworthy advice.

I love this man in a non-gay way but if we could make babies, I'd let him give birth to my first born.

Getting in bar fights in your 30's? With a criminal record?

When do you learn?

A. You need new friends and a new life.

B. You need some mental help.

Either grow up or get help. You're bringing these problems on your self. It seems like you're trying to flush your life down the toilet. Why? You're a smart guy. Use your brain for 1/2 a second when trouble arises. Defending yourself is one thing, but backing some guy who can't control himself around angry women is another. Look at who you hang with, as well as who you are. Can you say that you're proud of how you and your friends reacted? What kind of "man" has to shove a chick to make a point? I'll tell you. A fucking pussy with an inferiority complex. You are obviously hanging out with someone who is not smart enough verbally negotiate the situation or too stupid to walk away. I hope your face feels better and you've taken a well learned lesson away from this. But by proxy, you deserved what you got.

BLNT....
