And also costs $500. For that, you could of got an ipod, cheap hu, and adapter. Then you can unplug your tunes when you park and keep on rocking.

So then you could of bought a cheaper HU. Waste of money it seems :)

Edit: Did you get a stealth edit in on me? I could of sworn that said "I have an ipod" when I clicked reply :paranoid:

I can understand tv's in van/suvs for when you have kids and shit (I loved that when I was a kid and we took trips). But in other cases, it seems pretty pointless. More of a "look, even though my ride is a piece of crap, it's pimped!" factor.

Me too, I still haven't got one yet. Meanwhile, I'm still playing old tape cassettes in my car. :icon28:

the iTrip is illegal in Holland (you can't broadcast FM signals without a licence), so i'll have to order one abroad.

Same here, can't get them in the shops because they're illegal due to broadcasting. Ebay or any online place is where to get them.

Just get a HU with auxillary sockets on- it will sound so much better than the iTrip and cheaper :p

I have a DVD player and screen in my car... I use it all the time... It's great if you have to sit and wait anywhere for something. I keep a Family Guy DVD in the car.

Truth.

Good job on the setup riddla. Crutchfield, Blaupunkt, Polk Audio, Alpine. Not a slacker in the bunch

I got this:

$100 for HU with auxillary port on the front, cheapest I could find. Works great with my iPod.

Alpine's always had mostly superior D/A's, but their interfaces have become cumbersome. imo, a waste of money, that HU, but different strokes blah blah.

Actually, my Audiocontrol EQ has aux RCA type inputs. When charging the ipod through the lighter, before I got the Alpine interface, I had terrible ground loop noise until I unplugged the charger. The Alpine ipod adapter took care of that and the noise is gone.

So make sure whatever charger you get won't introduce noise into your stereo.

The only problem i have with my interface at all is using the ipod while driving, unless im changing tracks or something simple. The problem with mine is that it's an older model unit that was never really designed to work with the ipod, and you have to press a couple of buttons to do what one button does on current HUs

blame your Audiocontrol for that. they really had some issues back in the day for ground loop noise. seriously, it's the reason i took out the Epicenter. no need for extra devices anyhoo.

i just noticed you paid $500 for a HU that only dishes 2 volts at the pre-outs. that's a super weak link in the chain. Alpine, wtf.
