2 new COD2 shots released
After playing Battfield 2 for the last few months, and then playing Doom3 again, I have to say that id makes a great engine.
It is ten million times better than the POS BF engine(s).
RTCW is also a rock solid, well performing game.
id knows their shit, personally I'd like to see the morons at Dice/EA get a clue and accept that they aren't worthy of licking the sweat off of Carmacks balls. They should have waited and used the D3 engine. BF2 would be ten times the game then.
*on a side note: I'm getting REALLY pissed off with BF2, it is by far the second worst programmed game I've ever played. It crashes constantly, plays like shit on both single player AND multiplayer, lags to hell even on small serves with fat pipes and specs, and the servers crash constantly too.
I've lost 4 medals and countless stars to that POS game not 'retaining' my accomplishments. It's infuriating after awhile, makes you wonder why you're playing it if it keeps losing your progress. :/

BTW, I play games for fun. I dont care much if i loose a medal, or i've i'm ranked 289899 in the world when last week i was 289898... Who cares.
You grab a server, you get your mates, and you play for a laugh.
BF2 does that just fine. Doom 3 MP does not.
I agree id make great engines, but Doom 3 was not a great game.

And you still haven't provided proof of this knowledge sir.inolen wrote:You're an idiot.o'dium wrote:Fuck yeah! The we could of had 4 man BF2 games with pitch black night based maps and low res textures with shit frame rares and horrible netcode!
FUCKIN YEAH!
EDIT: BTW, Yes, I'm an idiot for sayign the doom 3 engine cant do games on the scale of BF2. Fucking hell what was I thinking Inolen? Thanks for putting me straight.

Its simple, not hard to understand.I've read interview with people from it that I can find now if I need to, that say its their own inhouse engine, not Q3's or Doom 3's.inolen wrote:You manage that quite well.o'dium wrote:And you still haven't provided proof of this knowledge sir.
Yet you claim to be right, but wont provide proof.
So, which is it?
You know... I haven't played D3 on the net ever. Not once. How about that. Don't care too either, I didn't buy it for the MP.o'dium wrote:Fuck yeah! Anyways... on that whole pitched black, low res textures thing, wtf does that have to do with the engine? Low res textures are from the level designers, not the engine designers.
Seriously, if that's all you have go use against the D3 engine, well... you lack credibility to say the least.
*I wanted to add that the current BF netcode couldn't get any shittier, so no matter what they do, it would be an improvement. Even if it was to have all teh players get on the phone for a conference call to call out damage and movements to other players.
SplashDamage iis making ET:QW, which is HEAVILY modified using megatexture tech (Which has been out for years). Its o nthe scale of BF2, but still doesn't quite match the detail. And even then, its aimed at stupid high end computers, and lets face it, BF2 runs slow enough as it is.
BTW, here is your proof for COD2 being a new inhouse engine and not Q3, direct from infinity ward:
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/call-of-duty-2/605310p1.html
"For Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward has ditched the Quake 3 engine in favor of all-new proprietary technology. In many regards, it still looks a lot like Call of Duty - the interface looks the same, and the characters look and move in a familiar style. There are some new bells and whistles, however, from the real-time lighting and shadows to the advanced smoke effects that look like they'll play a big part in the game. At first glance, it doesn't pack the "wow" punch of a Half-Life 2 or DOOM 3, but it looks to be a big improvement from the first game."

:lol:Keep It Real wrote:It doesn't really provide more than "Orio told me" because that article is just saying "Whoever he interviewed told Sal 'Sluggo' Accardo". Its not about providing more accuracy you slobbish fucking nerd get a life, one is right and one is wrong.
