Uk'ers, I need some new speakers
Uk'ers, I need some new speakers
Well my 4.1 is on its last legs, an old cambridge soundworks setup.
I'm looking to get it replaced. Power isn't a major concern seeing as I'll be back to uni soon and I dont want to piss off my new housemates.
Anything will doo, 2.1-7.1 Analogue or Digital input (prefer the latter).
Like i said, power isn't a major concern, but quality is. Would appreciate what ideas you have. Max price would be about £100
Currently im thinking about either the Creative Labs I-Trigue L3500, Logitech X-620 6.1 (Can get them end of line for about £30..) and the Creative Inspire 5.1 GD580
Would appreciate any input.
David

You might think they're cheap shit, but they're not.
I've heard the 2.1 Wooden Woofer in action, for the price, it's pretty damned impressive.

w3rd. :icon14:4days wrote:got a logitech setup myself and never had any trouble with it. nice, clear sound. good for music and games - when my shitbox soundcard isn't playing up that is.
come to think of it, if their peripherals are anything like their cards, don't buy creative.
I went from running a Cambridge Amp\Tower Speaker setup, to running a Creative 5.1 system, it was crap, kept hearing 'popping' noises, though I was using an Audigy 2 at the time. Needless to say I went back to using my Amp.
In all fairness i've owned sever creative products before and have loved all of them. Everyone says their tech support is rubbish, but when i lost the volume controler for this current setup i have, they sent me one free of charge special delivery :parnoaid:4days wrote:got a logitech setup myself and never had any trouble with it. nice, clear sound. good for music and games - when my shitbox soundcard isn't playing up that is.

As for the ntech, dunno man, spending half the money than what my dying system was worth 3 years ago...

You have a point. I dont own any but, from what I've heard they're pretty high quality. Though you can pretty much guarantee that tech-support is none existent should anything go wrong with them.DiscoDave wrote: As for the ntech, dunno man, spending half the money than what my dying system was worth 3 years ago...
I own some Logitech Z-680s (5.1, 550W RMS), which for some bizzare reason they dont seem to have any product pages on them anymore. Still, they're solid speakers with just about every input you could think of, and they pack a punch too.
Logitech's budget speakers are very good quality for the price you can get them, so for budget speakers I'd go for Logitech every time.
The only real difference is hassle-free wiring. I have my speakers set up via S/PDIF, through just the one cable. The input you need your speakers to have is down to what you have on your sound card.DiscoDave wrote:Also, is there a big difference bettwen analogue and digital input?
