by default, if it's in another language, it's no big deal.
If/when I ever visit another country, I'll just wear a shirt that says "American" with an arrow pointing up. That way everyone will know to speak to me in baby-talk. I may even get a few pats on the head and bread crumbs, too.

Except the ones who don't speak English give it a shot anyway and the ones who do speak English try to translate the French with Google language tools. Therefore people who speak english are lazy (or resourceful)
