Well, no fucking shit!

Talk about a Kafkaesque bureaucracy! Why would they need to put a barcode on four crackers? (Let alone label the bag, "Crackers." !)

In the upper left you can see how they're patching a hole where air was leaking out... With a Kraft Handi-Snacks wrapper... Apparently a space approved snack.

that barcode is for inventory use since food doesn't come with serial numbers. no joke.

It's not surprising, and it's not bureaucracy. An astronaut's meal is planned to the calorie, and, because space is in such short supply on a shuttle, a strict inventory must be kept.

Wow, the inside looks old and dirty. What's up with that dirty snack container on top? Also are they running windows? I can't really make it out.

If you look closely at the dim screen on the thinkpad, you can make out the Windows Taskbar. The shuttle itself runs off of MS Access + Windows ME backend.

Wow, I totally didn't notice the IBM Thinkpad or the Mango drink.

Windows ME... I think I've found the danger they were looking for during the space walk.
