Diego, it's no surprise to me you can't find an album full of good songs if that's the kind of shit you listen to.
Last week I went to a Robert Cray-concert. He's a blues guitar player and has a good voice.
Problem is, he was fucking boring and I almost felt sorry for him. He never evolved beyond that 'Well, I'll just play the Blues until I die'-phase.
And I must honestly say that most of that olde shit is just dated and... well... olde.
Even if You don't like a certain band, it's not necessarily bad, DRuM. I am seriously surprised about your reaction.
If you went to see BB King, you wouldn't find him playing europop, country or techno either. Surprisingly, you'll still find him playing blues. I know Robert Cray, and if you really were into the blues, you'd probably enjoy the gig more. Some music doesn't evolve, it just is. You either like it or you don't. You can say big band music is dated, but it's still great music. How about mozart and beethoven, they're a bit past it now. Not really evolving, eh
Regarding your last statement, you'll hear many musicians when asked what music they like say ' I like good music'. And that's all I'm saying. It IS my personal opinion and of course not a fact, and everyone has their opinion of good and bad music. One mans meat, etc. So music is only good or bad to the listener, yes. Throbbing gristle is very bad music. To me.
But you heard what, one or two samples from a single TG album? And you'd define it as "bad" just like that?
Some of my favourite artists have produced utterly shite tracks, but if I followed your way and didn't investigate the rest (even though so called "music critics" gave very positive reviews or responses), then i'd never get to hear the music that has touched me the most.
BTW, i'm not the worlds greatest TG fan, but if you did a bit of research, you'll find they've been incredibly influential. And for that alone, its unfair to call them "bad" even if you don't like them.
Where were you when the West was defeated?

I've heard enough of TG from one or two albums at amazon, plus aphex twin, plus a few other things of your genres to know that it ain't my cuppa and never will be.
brisk, I did say it was bad 'to me'. That's as fair a comment as anyone could make.
diego, you have a pm.

Just listen to Avril 15th by Aphex Twin before judging him as "bad" though.

.mp3's aren't compressed? ;o
Sure, but not to the extent that amazon use (whereby every track sounds like someone is banging their head against a muffled bell)

Lol I'm sorry brisk. You do seem overly impressed with music that is programmed. Did you think the drums on that 54 Cymru Beats were real? Or you don't care about real instruments? There are casio keyboards in schools I teach in. Hold down one key, instant drum 'n bass groove! Wow.

hey Brisk, i love alot of hardware generated music too, but for you to say to Drum that he'd get a "lesson in percussion" from electronic beats is, well, kinda funny.
