My brother, like me, uses Firefox (waits for rep to hammer me with Opera propaganda) but he decided to upgrade his IE for the hell of it. Apparently, that was a really bad idea.
10 minutes after upgrading, he's been getting all sorts of spyware popping up on his computer. Pop up blocker doesn't work. His interface is all cluttered with useless shopping guides and something like 3 search bars. I don't think he can even uninstall it.

Sounds like user error to me. Also why would you install this on your main PC? It's beta.. Always a test machine.obsidian wrote:My brother, like me, uses Firefox (waits for rep to hammer me with Opera propaganda) but he decided to upgrade his IE for the hell of it. Not everybody can afford a "test machine" (:icon32::icon23:).Dek wrote:Sounds like user error to me. Also why would you install this on your main PC? It's beta.. Always a test machine.
Third party software should not be necessary. The quality of the websites you visit should not have any bearing on how well your browser deals with malicious content. If you take an SUV to a monster truck rally you don't blame the mud when you get bogged down.Dek wrote:pop up blocker works fine for me.. What kind of shit sites your brother visiting?

Not referencing third party software, included with WinXP SP2.. also in IE7.. you'll still get pop ups every now and then within the browser.. but most have been supressed, you'll get the majority of them on those sites that do have pop ups on the bleeding edge of pop up technology, where they'll exploit loopholes around the suppression.
My everyday surfing habits I rarely ever see any.. hence the no big issues as of yet
