3 more nights

Post by Giraffe }{unter »

Until I can relax and spend the night on the couch with my wife.

I really don't mind having friends or family over, but it gets a little taxing when they stay for 3 weeks. It gets more taxing when you go to work with a clean house and come home to dishes in the sink and tons of empty bottles on the counter.

Is it too much to ask for a house guest to clean up after themselves?

3 weeks? your guest(s) are lame if they can't be semi courteous.

it sounds simple, but have you told them to clean up?

in the past, my house was used as a hotel by so many of my friends, i always made them welcome, but i made it damn clear what i expected in return - if its clean, it stays clean, if you finish an item of food, replace it.

no one ever fucked with these rules, and i enjoyed giving people a place to stay.

same here, although not used as a "hotel" of sorts, but my friends know what's up when they stay at the house.

yeah, pretty much, I help clean up after meals, offer to help with dishes. I damn sure clean up any mess I make immediatly.

I guess I was brought up under strict rules.

I don't think you should have to state the rules to your guests, it should be automatic, if you are at work all day you should not have to come home and clean up after people who have been lounging on your couch.

And damnit I miss my alone time. Every evening after work, the gym, dinner, and doing the dishes, I make a nice latte' and hit the couch with my wife to unwind. I think that's become my stress release, because as the days tick by and I don't get any couch time I find my self getting crankier :(

I fucking wish. She moved out in may, it's just me and my mate here now. I bought some more paper plates this afternoon because I can't fit any more shit in the sink. I need a woman here.

when I have guests, they're treated like kings. But when they make a mess of your house it's over.

Yeah man, of course, I'm only joking. I'm loving it here. I've got two bedrooms free and another mate moving in. I just wish someone would wash up my shit and clean my clothes. A cleaner comes round once a week, but she doesn't do the kitchen.

yeah I think treating them that well was where I went wrong... I think now it's just taking advantage.

Maybe I should remotely kill the TV all day so they have nothing better to do then go see some sights or do the dishes :)
