Whoops!

Post by Zerofactor »

So I'm rolling down highway 17, minding my own business, enjoying the sun and the view of the beach. I think to myself "My, what a nice day it is!" Then, out of nowhere, an object that looks alot like a 'superball' bounces down the street in my direction. "Hmm! What the fuck is that!?" I ask myself. The ball then bounces up onto the roof of my vehicle and attaches itself. Thinking that I'm about to die, I hurl myself towards the ground and roll across the pavement. Now having safe proximity from the ball, I inspect it, nothing happens. So I pull out my magnetic gun, pick up the ball and toss it into the water. Sure enough, *BOOM*. With that out of the way, I hop back in my car and continue down the road, this is where it gets interesting. Two more balls roll my way, this time I use the onboard gun to fire them out of my way, just to make sure I avoided them, I cock my head back and watch them go bouncing away. *sigh of relief* After returning my view to the front of car, I realize that I have just driven off the highway, into the air and towards my death. Whoops. Mission failed   That was the funniest experience I have ever had playing a fuckin' videogame.

Thought I might share this with you guys, since I thought it was hilarious that I could avoid bombs and steer myself directly off a cliff. If it doesn't sound funny when you read it, just imagine what it'd look like, if you've played HL2.

Highway 17 bored me. I just kept thinking "when does this shit end?".

Ravenholm, now that was a level.

Ravenholm was freaky, although I liked hurling razors at the zombies. But those poison headcrabs sure do piss me off.

I thought the part of the game where you had the ship dropping all the cluster bomb things on you in the boat or whatever was one of the best gaming moments ever...the music/atmosphere were just absolutely perfect.

I remember that, it would drop them in a triangular pattern.

omfgwtf no way fag0t!!111

/fanboy dork

highway 17 had the crane, which even on repeated playings is still hugely entertaining. i quite liked the driving tbh, the fresh sea air wafting through my monitor. i thought valve did a great job of ending just as it was about to get very dull - which sounds like it was earlier in your case than mine

ravenholm *was* top drawer though. the gameplay d3 could have had but didn't. father grigory was fucking inspired, right down to his chuck taylors. the spitting image of my old logic tutor too :icon31:

I need to play this again. And Ravenholm was superb. I took a screenshot of the priest guy, while he was up in that window, silohoutted (sp?) against the orange background in the doorway sort of, with that 'shrine' of dead bodies down on the ground...

That game had so many memorable moments....save for the ending, which was just sort of blah..

lol gaming moments rock. One of my favorite moments was probably with a friend of mine playings Tribes 2.

We were in a bomber making runs over this base and we were just killing them like mad but we had no tailgunner. So eventualy 2 guys get in a couple of scouts and start chasing us.

So I'm flying this big ass bomber through hills and lakes just barely missing them cause I'm so low to the ground. Every now and then I get a little altitude dip the nose down and manage to let my bomber take a couple plasma shots behind as long as the bomber was nosing down enough.

He hit the top of one scout causing it to crash into a mountain and then there was only one left. I had the afterburners on going towards this sharp hill and when I went around it out of his sight I dived straight down into a lake I had seen earlier and completely submerged but held the bomber in position without touching the bottom of the lake and there was just enough room for the bomber. Then me and my buddy both jumped out and shot the other scout as it was flying by.

You had to be there but it was pretty cool :)

Hehe, I love those little balls. I remember in the one house they kept going through the windows so I kept chucking them outside, but they kept coming back in, so then I hurrled them into the sea. =D

HL2 was awesome, the 'what-if' moments added a much needed break from the typical fps cliches.

i agree, the game its self Was a good followup to HL1 ( allthough there are the mass's that dont agree )

i do admit that it dident have the SAME shock to the FPS Genre. But, its more to the Ever so interesting/changing Storyline that still leaves you Guessing and wanting more. :)

lol me? Yea I was driving through Harrisburg and all of a sudden some balls attached themselves to my car :p

I played past that part by the way, now I'm leading a squad of anti-CPs through C17, kinda confused and there's so many load zones I kinda don't want to mess up and make the wrong turn.
