He's not kidding. The guy who posted it a few years ago also showed the wires as well as other examples. A pair of leather shoes was one of them. He also did some sort of classic car. It was yellow, if I recall correctly.

There was much debate in all the main channels about the authenticity of the work. As far as I know, while he posted the wires (which were extremely dense) he never posted any zoomed in proof of any sort that it was in fact 100% vector.

You couldn't tell? Check out the whitewalls and aliasing happening around the headlights and hood. Also, the background has the tell tale signs of HDRI bleeding going on.
