If you install over 1.0.x it's prolly gonna screw up your install (extensions/etc). What I mean was that if you install clean starting with deer park there dosen't seem to be any biggie issues.

I installed it next to Firefox. I don't see anything different about Deer Park, except for the options menu, the logo and the weird name.

What's so hot about this thing?

It's the testing branch of FF.

For fucks sake!

Updates are necessary but why the fuck haven't they incorporated that magical system called patching yet?

It works just like patching and saving all your settings.

Except with the crucial difference where you download the entire thing each time. Not a problem fo most people, but it is for people stuck on faggy connections at the moment. Yep, that'll be me.

I love FF, but it's wank if it doesn't have an auto-update feature in this day and age. -!-

Deer Park is the testing branch. It's renamed to prevent people from downloading unofficiall releases unless they know what they're doing.

As for an auto update feature, i don't think milestones are released frequently enough to warrant such a feature.

Patches?! Are you kidding? The whole program is not even 5 MB. Consider that perhaps most of the changes for this version are significant enough that a patch could not fix it.

plus there's the fact that it's less than 5mb, which even on 56k isn't exactly a strain

edit: which is what duffman just said, self-idiot :dork:

It's not a massive strain, but a niggly ball-ache. Whether or not the number of changes is such that a patch isn't feasible, more than a quarter of an hour just for an update for a little program is pretty irritating. I somehow doubt it'll drive me back to IE any time soon though.

One thing much more annoying is Microsoft Antispyware putting an unremovable (unless it's in the options, I haven't bothered looking) progress box on the update, it's bloody annoying with it covering the "Go to <forum>" bit in the bottom corner :-|
