I'm interested in setting up a small WASTE network to test it out. The system works by distributing public keys to people you 'trust' and establishing a network.
If anyone fancies trying it out, let me know and I'll trade keys. The system supports anonymous File Sharing and Instant Messaging.
I'm thinking that if it does what it promises, well, this is a model for the next generation of mainstream P2P systems.

Once you've installed it and generated your key pair, you need to get me or pext on ICQ/MSN and trade public keys. Then you hop on the network and away we go.
Takes a few mins to get people file lists but after that it's pretty fast.

So, say a few of us connect to each other. Will all of you have full access to my hdd, or do I tell it what I want you all to see...what is that part like?
I'm gonna give it a shot under Wine. Me and my friends had actually been tossing around starting up another Waste network. The first one we had was pretty fun.
Okay. I've stopped for now because I'm comfortable with the way it works and I understand it. I plan to start using it properly as a distribution platform when I get my own connection sorted and don't feel a twang of guilt with every byte I go over the download cap on this connection, which isn't my own.
Fuck, when I get this connection sorted I might actually get my ass into gear and seed out the rest of the Q3 Map Archive I have waiting to go.
