Stem Cell Injection Allows Man to Walk Again
Stem Cell Injection Allows Man to Walk Again
Amazing:

Not so amazing:
"The procedure that has allowed this change is not done on humans in the U.S."
I wonder, if wonderful applications of stem-cell research keep happening like this, will the hardcore rightists ever change their mind about the practice?

We'll probably have to wait until one of the influential hard right loses the ability to walk to find that out.R00k wrote:Amazing:

Think like Christopher Reeve's sudden interest in paralysis research.

I'm not saying it didn't happen...but I think you should always be careful about using absolutes when describing nature and the human body. Also, don't forget - Geebs has a piece of paper that states that he is very clever. Whether you like it or not, that means that his opinion carries some weight when it comes to matters of medicine.Kracus wrote:Geebs wrote:Umm, I'll believe it when I see the MRI. That guy sounds like he's had a big dose of placebo effect.I don't think I've ever heard of ANY placebo making a person who had no feelings from his chest down able to walk and feel again. In fact I'd go as far as saying it's physicaly impossible to do so if you have a spinal injury that severe

I think if scientists invented a way to suck the life out of the living to rejuvenate people there would be rich people scooping up poor third world people to keep their rich asses alive and receiving stock options, like Morlocks.

There's no way of fully assessing the severity of his spinal injury from the article. But we're expected to believe that an injection of stem cells has sorted out his motor, sensory and autonomic nervous systems all in one go? Hmm. Remember when Christopher Reeve was supposed to have felt some sensation in one finger, and then extrapolated that he was going to walk again? That's what I'm talking aboutKracus wrote:Geebs wrote:Umm, I'll believe it when I see the MRI. Only if we cripple them, obviously.R00k wrote:I wonder, if wonderful applications of stem-cell research keep happening like this, will the hardcore rightists ever change their mind about the practice?
