ah man... brown urine.. not good?

Post by zeeko »

Ugh, ok it was like 80 degrees and my friend came over around 7 and we went and ran 5 miles pretty hard, i'm not really sure how much water i drank today, probably like 3/4 of the minimum amount, and we got back and i feel fine, and i had to pee bad, but when i whipped it out and tried peeing it was somewhat hard to pee, not uncomfortable, but it was like i really had to pee, and then only like 5 drops came out, and they were like brown, i don't want to say red, but they COULD have been a bit red, or maybe it was just a brownish yellow... :( is this pretty bad dehydration? my sexual libido hasn't really been all that amazing the past few days and there has been a *very slight* (like a 2 on the 1-10 pain scale) not good feeling when i tinkle.. any ideas? man i was/am kinda scared when my pee was like brown arg!

Here is an idea, go to a doctor before it falls off.

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

A doctor would be a wise choice. Brown either means you've been putting it where it doesnt belong or you are pissing a small ammount of blood.

Its probably blood in the urine. Could be due to a kidney stone. I'm pretty much 100% sure its blood though, since I've had that exact thing during a number of my kidney stones. That doesn't mean it is a kidney stone you've got going on - but you definitely should go to the doc ASAP.

I started passing kidney stones at 15.

But if it doesn't clear up soon, get to a doc tonight to be safe.

Blood in the urine is an irritant, so it will feel like you've got to piss even if you don't...it irritates the tissues in there.

My brother had a stone at 20. They aren't age discriminant. Go to the doc son.

They will check other shit that is important. I don't know all the diagnoses that could be made from blood in the urine - I am guessing it could range from nothing serious to something. If you aren't having any pain with it (yet) it probably isn't a stone. If it was a stone, they would probably have you start pounding water. Maybe do an x-ray (specific kind) to check its size and location. Worst case scenario - they either have to blow it up with extra corporeal shockwave lithotripsy (sonic waves smash the stone) or they have to go up and get it out. yes, go up and get it out.

I've had 3 shockwave treatments to blast a total of 20 stones.

But you should go to the doc. They'll do a urinalysis probably to check things, and probably have you come back in a few days to see if there is still blood. Probably also check for protein in teh urine to see if your kidneys are ok. Maybe do a whole workup - creatinine clearance, etc. I dunno, I'm not a doc, just a very experienced kidney patient. You need to get checked out though, IMHO.

if i went... would that be considered an unnessesary (sp?) trip to the doctor further contributing to our country's health care problem?

No.
You had a bunch of blood in your urine. Could be nothing serious, but its not an unnecessary trip to the doc.

Yes. I think pretty much every response medical question on this board should include the words 'go see a doctor' (if it describes some condition or injury that the person actually has).

Someone keep track of the next time (if ever) Geebs or Saturn comes to the states. We can jump them at the airport, and then use them to write us all sorts of fun prescriptions.

Is caffeine in urine an irritant too? I've always wondered why caffeine drinks make people pee so frequently.

caffeine is a mild diuretic, not an irritant. Remember, to say 'caffeine in the urine' it would imply that there had been no metabolization of the caffeine and that it was excreted in its original form in the urine.

could be a bladder infection, or just an inflammation of the bladder. The first would need antibiotics, is there any fever? Fever would indicate an infection of some sort.
